HOTEL INFORMATION
To make hotel reservations, please contact the Embassy Suites, La Quinta directly to receive the discounted rate of $175 (plus taxes) per night for a King suite and $185 (plus taxes) per night for a 2 Queen suite. You may reserve a room online HERE or by calling 760-777-1711. Please note that this rate is only available through September 13 or until the group block is sold out, whichever comes first, so please book your room early. We cannot add rooms at these rates once the room block is full. Please note that rates are valid one night prior and one night following the event. Please ensure you are selecting the correct dates when you register online.

EVENT SCHEDULE
Theoasis begins on Tuesday, October 14.
Registration will open at 12:00 p.m. The program will begin at 2:00 p.m.  
The event ends on Thursday, October 16 by noon, following closing worship.

Event Speakers

Rev. Dr. Mary Tororeiy

Rev. Dr. Mary Tororeiy is an ordained priest and a Hebrew Bible scholar. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Hebrew Bible from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. Her dissertation, ‘Reclaiming Motherhood: Exploring Birthing Imagery in the Book of Job’ was published in 2018.Mary is currently serving as rector of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Lompoc, CA. Besides being a parish priest, she teaches Hebrew Bible at The Episcopal School of Theology at Los Angeles (Bloy House), and at the TEEM program at the Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, Berkeley, CA.Mary is a member of the Circle of Concerned African Women Theologians, an organization started by pioneering African women theologians to be a space for women in ministry to both share the challenges and joys of ministry as well as publish. She is an avid football (soccer) fan, loves music and dance, cooking, gardening, and running.

Rev. Marcus Lohrmann

Rev. Marcus Lohrmann, author of Ptoxocracy: An End to Christianity, is a public theologian, writer, and pastor based in Southern California, serving Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in La Mesa, CA. A theologian of the cross, Lohrmann loves digging deeply into difficult questions, wrestling with texts, and empowering communities of faith to do the same.
GOLF TOURNAMENT
An optional golf tournament will take place the afternoon of Wednesday, October 15 (location to be confirmed soon). The cost is $95 per person. To register for the golf tournament, select the Golf Tournament option found on the Theoasis registration form.

CHILDCARE
To make Theoasis more accessible to those with small children, childcare will once again be an option during portions of the event. The cost is included in the general registration. Childcare will be available for children ages 0-5 (children not yet enrolled in Elementary School) during large group plenaries and some worship services. Childcare would comply with AB506 and Safe Church policy. Please indicate your need for childcare on the registration form.
