Congregational Life and Leadership

What is PALLMM and how can it help my Congregation? Preparing Adult Lay Leaders for Mission and Ministry (PALLMM) is a program of the Pacifica Synod and it’s focus on lifelong learning for laity. One of PALLMM’s areas of emphasis is helping equip the lay person to develop and grow healthy congregations. To do this, it offers classes, events, and retreats that both address congregational issues directly as well as equipping lay leaders to become active in these ministries. The vision of this program is broad and involves many opportunities.

For whom are these classes and events planned? All people with a desire to learn are welcome. Those already serving within the congregation will have the effectiveness of their ministry enriched and enhanced. Persons in a position of church leadership will benefit the most from these programs. The events will not only supply valuable information but provide an opportunity to meet with other leaders in their area of interest who can share experiences and outcomes to similar issues within their congregations.

What types of subjects will be provided? Many opportunities are offered. Some are:
     · Worship, small and large church
     · Community interface
     · Church Council issues
     · Ethnic opportunities
     · Technology Workshops
     · Evangelism, Outreach, Missions
     · Church School Dynamics
     · Conflict Management
     · Human Resource Issues

How long are the events and how much do they cost? The events will take the form of regular on-going classes, workshops, retreats, and other venues. The cost will vary with the type of event offered.

Where do I go for classes and who teaches them? Seminary and college professors, pastors, and other presenters with particular skills lead the events. They are offered at various sites around the Pacifica synod on a rotating basis. Some classes are provided online.

We hope that all lay leaders and congregations interested in developing and growing into the 21st Century will take advantage of the opportunities for learning and networking available through PALLMM.
