OUR CHILDREN MINISTRY TEAM

Mission:
To facilitate and implement the Cherish Our Children Initiative,
as adopted by the 2007
Pacifica Synod Assembly, throughout all congregations within
the Synod.
Responsibilities:
1) Implement the ELCA Message on Commercial Sexual Exploitation.
2) Encourage cherish prayers, education, raising awareness,
relationship-building, and
action among Pacifica Synod congregations for the safety, love
and protection of our
children.
3) Work in concert with synod staff to provide training and
resources for this program to
all congregations in the synod.
4) Equip the saints for action informed by awareness of this
social evil.
5) Support local agencies that work with youth and adults who
are in prostitution.
6) Seek the involvement of 50% or more of the synods congregations
in this program
by the year 2012.
Accountability:
The Cherish Our Children Ministry Team operates under Pacifica
Synod Constitution article
S11.01. and SA07.03. The team is accountable to the Synod
Council through the
designated Synod Council liaison. The team works in conjunction
with the staff of our synod
including in particular the designated Assistant to the Bishop.
It is expected that this Ministry Team will submit a one-page
Annual Report to the Synod
Council by March 1 each year to be included in the Synod Assembly
Notebook. This report
will include:
A brief statement of the teams overall purpose
A summary of the teams ministry during the past
year
A summary of the teams goals and objectives for
the coming year
The names of current team members
Composition:
The Ministry Team Leader, clergy or lay, is appointed by Synod
Council to serve for a term
of three years (renewable). The team is comprised of members
of Pacifica Synod
congregations, clergy or lay, who feel called to the ministry
of this team and serve at will.
